Research has shown that aquatic therapy and exercise can help people with Parkinson’s Disease.  Improvements can be made in balance, mobility, motor function and quality of life.  The reduction of gravity forces and warmth of water act as a therapeutic medium that allows for less rigidity, stiffness and pain often experienced by those living with Parkinson’s Disease.  The buoyancy of the water can provide better balance and postural support thus allowing improved range of motion and muscle strengthening.

Balfour Senior Living communities are Parkinson’s Disease- friendly.  As with many other conditions, we use clinical assessments to determine care level needs.
